Car to Class 1 HGV (C+E) Training

Step straight from a car licence to the top level of HGV driving. This course is built for new entrants who want to fast-track into articulated lorry work, trunking and long-distance logistics, without spending time and money on the wrong route first.

What does Car to Class 1 cost?

£2,826 all in. That is the complete cost from car licence to Class 1: eight full days and 28 hours of one-to-one training, VAT and the DVSA test fees. There is no separate bill arriving later, no shared lessons and no shortened course.

Can you really go from car to Class 1 directly?

Yes. Since November 2021 you no longer need to pass Category C first, so you can go straight from a car licence to Category C+E. This course takes you there with eight days of one-to-one training in an artic, which is faster and cheaper than doing Class 2 and then upgrading.

How long does it take?

Most learners complete the full route in eight to twelve weeks from first enquiry, depending on DVSA test availability and how quickly the medical and provisional application are returned.

Where do I train and test?

Training is at our Sittingbourne centre with DVSA-approved instructors on full-size articulated vehicles. You test at the Gillingham DVSA test centre, on the routes you have already driven during training.

Is there work at the end of it?

Class 1 drivers are in consistent demand across supermarkets, parcel networks, general haulage and trunking. When you pass, we introduce you to local and national operators in our network who are actively recruiting.
