HGV Training in Kent

Learn2Pass trains from our own centre at Sittingbourne Logistics Park on Swale Way, with practical tests taken at the Gillingham DVSA test centre, which is the lorry and bus test centre serving Kent. Learners travel to us from Medway, Maidstone, Canterbury, Ashford, Gravesend, Dartford, Thanet and Sheppey.

Class 2 (Category C) rigid lorry, Class 1 (Category C+E) articulated, C1 7.5 tonne for ambulance, NHS and courier work, PCV bus and coach (Categories D and D1), and Driver CPC modules.

Practical training is usually 5 to 10 days depending on the licence and your starting experience. Counting the D4 medical, provisional entitlement, theory and hazard perception tests, CPC modules and the practical exam, most people take around 6 to 8 weeks from first enquiry to licence.

Not through the national HGV Skills Bootcamp programme, which has ended. Some funded routes still exist through other schemes but they depend on eligibility and on the provider holding the relevant contract, and Learn2Pass is not currently a funded provider. Be cautious of any school still advertising free government-funded HGV training, and ask them which specific scheme they mean.

Kent carries a large share of the country's freight through the Channel Tunnel at Folkestone and the Port of Dover, with the M20 and A2 corridors feeding distribution across the county and into London. That supports steady demand for qualified drivers in international and domestic haulage, container work, supermarket and parcel distribution, construction supply and passenger transport.
