HGV Training on Sheppey

Family-run since 2011. Kent's biggest HGV school.

One-to-one Class 1, Class 2, C1 and PCV training for Sheerness, Minster, Queenborough and Leysdown learners, just over the Sheppey Crossing at our Sittingbourne centre.

HGV training for the Isle of Sheppey

Just over the bridge from Sheppey.

If you live on the Isle of Sheppey, your HGV training is a short drive away. Our centre at Sittingbourne Logistics Park on Swale Way is a few minutes down the A249 once you are over the Sheppey Crossing, about 8 miles from Sheerness and Minster and 12 from Leysdown. Learn2Pass is a family-run Kent school, training drivers since 2011. Every lesson is one-to-one in our own full-size trucks, coaches and minibuses with a DVSA-approved instructor, and your practical test is at the Gillingham DVSA test centre. We help with the medical, provisional licence and theory tests too.

  • Over the bridge and you are nearly here

From Sheerness, Queenborough or Minster it is around 15 to 20 minutes to our centre: over the Sheppey Crossing and down the A249 to Swale Way. From Leysdown and Eastchurch allow a little longer. Parking on site is free.

  • Early or mid-morning starts

Training days usually start at 6am or 10am and run for around four hours of one-to-one driving. Early starts mean you are back on the island by late morning.

  • All-in prices, finance available

Licence courses include VAT and both DVSA tests, with our Price Match Guarantee. You can also spread the cost with Snap Finance, subject to status.

  • Driving work on and off the island

The Port of Sheerness, the industrial estates around Queenborough and the big sites over the bridge at Eurolink and Ridham all need qualified drivers. After you pass, we introduce you to employers across Kent.

  • Every step explained

D4 medical, D2 provisional application, theory and hazard perception: we explain each one in plain English and help you book them in the right order, so you are ready when your training dates come round.

  • One-to-one from start to finish

One learner, one instructor, one truck. You learn on the same routes the Gillingham examiners use, so nothing on test day is new to you.

How our Sheppey HGV training works

For most island learners the drive in takes 15 to 20 minutes.

Where do Sheppey learners train with Learn2Pass?

At our centre at Sittingbourne Logistics Park on Swale Way, ME10 2FF, just down the A249 from the Sheppey Crossing. It is about 8 miles from Sheerness and Minster and around 12 miles from Leysdown, usually 15 to 20 minutes outside rush hour. Parking is free.

Do you train learners from Leysdown and Eastchurch?

Yes. We welcome learners from all over the island, including Leysdown, Eastchurch, Minster, Halfway, Queenborough and Sheerness. From the east of the island allow around 20 to 25 minutes to reach us.

What driving work is there for Sheppey drivers?

On the island there is the Port of Sheerness and the industrial estates around Queenborough. Over the bridge, Eurolink and Ridham Dock in Sittingbourne are two of the biggest industrial areas in Swale. Qualified Class 1 and Class 2 drivers are in steady demand across all of them, and we introduce new drivers to employers across Kent.

Where will I take my practical test?

At the Gillingham DVSA test centre, Kent's lorry and bus test centre. You take it in one of our vehicles, and we train you on the roads around the test centre first.

Should I go for Class 2 or Class 1?

Class 2 (Category C) covers rigid lorries and is the quickest, cheapest way into driving work. Class 1 (Category C+E) adds articulated lorries and opens port, trunking and container work, which usually pays more. You can go straight from a car licence to Class 1 in one eight-day course, and we will set out both routes with real prices.

Can I spread the cost of my training?

Yes. Spread the cost with Snap Finance, subject to status. Checking your eligibility does not commit you to booking.
